Dr. Punam Jawahar Bijlani is a board certified Plastic Surgeon from Mumbai, India and acquired her Aesthetic Surgery training under the supervision of the late Prof. Pitanguy, Brazil. She further honed her plastic surgery skills in the UK, Lebanon, Belgium and Turkey. With over two decades in practice Dr Bijlani has earned her stripes in aesthetic surgery (breast, body and face for women and men) and  reconstructive surgery especially for breast and skin cancers

The book abounds with accounts of his wonderful work and by the time I had put the book down I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.”  Dr Bijlani graduated with distinctions from the Grant Medical College and JJ group of Hospitals, Mumbai in her undergraduate and post graduate (General Surgery) degree courses and was amongst the top 10 in her All India entrance exams for Plastic Surgery.

Dr Bijlani has been a long standing Plastic Surgeon in Mumbai in two-premium private care hospitals -Jaslok and Saifee Hospitals. She also served at her Alma Mater as an Honorary Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery. Her academia inclinations endures with her appointment as Adjunct Asst. Professor in Plastic Surgery at the Mohd. Bin Rashid University of Medical Sciences at Dubai in 2019.

In the UAE , where Dr Bijlani has been for the past decade she has been instrumental in setting up plastic surgery services in RAK Hospital (Ras Al Khaimah), Ajman and Dubai. The Emirates Plastic Surgery Society has recognized her for her meritorious contribution. Additionally she has chaired and presented at several national and international meetings.  The Kingdom of Seychelles also invites Dr Bijlani for pro-bono work.

In 2016, Dr Bijlani completed her Masters in Management in International health systems from the University of Liverpool. This has facilitated her objective to deliver Patient- Centered Culturally Sensitive Health Care.

The links between the worlds of art and surgery are powerful and pervasive and Dr Bijlani too has a lively interest in acrylic and charcoal art , which she practices in her spare time. She has participated in various exhibitions including World Art Dubai.
